On a bitterly cold afternoon Glantraeth arrived at the New Oval in Holyhead hoping to get some post Christmas cheer in this their third Anglesey derby game in a couple of weeks. The Bodorgan boys came from behind to win the fixture by two goals to one. The match itself was not a spectacle as anyone there would bear witness. Holyheads cause was not helped as influential James Parry left the field early on after turning his ankle with not a player within ten yards of him. Holyhead could claim that they should have had a share of the points as Curt Williams was a danger throughout the match saw a shot that beat Thomas if the Glantraeth goal clip the post. Glantraeth could claim they could have won more convincingly as they saw Dave Vickers tip a shot destined for the top corner of the goal round the post and also make a save from a Craig Roberts penalty. Nigel Barry hit a shot over the bar as early as the 8th minute before Craig Roberts saw the ball bobble on the poor surface just as he was about to take a shot, Emyr Rowlands then shot wide from a Kevin Roberts corner. on 21min's Anthony Platt had a shot saved by Thomas. Glantraeths best chance of the first period saw Rob Williams shoot over the bar from just outside the area. On thirty minutes disaster struck as a back-pass by Lee Dixon was intercepted by lively Curt Williams and he rounded the keeper to put into an empty net for what was a gift of a goal.
It was at the start of the second half that Vickers pulled off the aforementioned save tipping Rob Williams goal-bound header round the post. In the 55th minute a good move between Kevin Roberts and Simon Kay found Richard Hughes who turned and shot wide. Craig Roberts then tested Vickers who was in good form. On 62min's the equaliser came as Richard Hughes playing his first game for many weeks dinked a ball over the top of the Holyhead defence to Craig Roberts who put the ball away to make it 1-1.In the 65th minute young Curt Williams through on goal hit a shot which just clipped the post before going safely out for a goal-kick. Emyr Rowlands then tried his luck and Kevin Roberts blazed over. On 82 minutes Glantraeth had a chance to go in front as referee Maldwyn Williams awarded a penalty as Roberts was felled in the area. Craig Roberts took the penalty which was well saved by Vickers. With time running out Rob Williams found Kevin Roberts who from a tight angle with the outside of his foot hit a shot that bobbled in off the post. The final score was 2-1 to the visitors who consolidate in third position after this game. Glantraeth now look forward to their fourth derby game in a row when they take on Bodedern at the Bodorgan ground on the 2nd January 2006.
