Glantraeth 0 Flint 1

A solitary goal by Flint's Dean Hughes settled a wind and rain lashed contest at the Bodorgan field. Hughes struck in the 57th minute from 12 yards, this despite Glantraeth players appealing in vain for offside. It was a ball put into the 18yd box from the left that went under a defenders foot to reach Hughes who looked offside but he took the chance well and put past Steve Thomas the Glantraeth custodian. Glantraeth rued a number of missed chances in the first half as on 25 mins Mark Thomas hit a goalbound effort that somehow debutant keeper Alan Tyrell managed to tip onto the crossbar. From the resulting corner Thomas saw his header flash past the post. Dylan Owen then saw a shot go just past the upright before Lee Acott squandered a good chance for the visitors. The wind and rain certainly did not help as both teams struggled to get anything going. Flint probably adapted the better and Acott and Dean Hughes were a threat all afternoon. Mark Thomas Craig Roberts and Dylan Owen all spurned good chances in the game, but Flint shaded the proceedings to take all three points. Dylan Owen forced Tyrell into a fine save in the dying minutes but it was too late for the home side.
