Gresford Athletic 3 Glantraeth 2

This fixture originally scheduled to be played at Glantraeth was switched last weekend. Still missing was Simon Kay, and back in contention was Darren Jones. The visitors could not have had a better start racing into a two goal lead within the first twelve minutes. First goal came after a throw in was quickly taken to Lee Dixon who swung in a cross that was met by Kevin Roberts on the edge of the penalty area who guided a header into the top corner pas a bemused Gareth Rowland in Gresford's goal. Gareth Davies then broke through and forced the keeper to tip his fierce shot over the crossbar. A free kick by Nigel Barry then found Mark Thomas to get a second for Glantraeth heading in at the far post. The game looked to be heading for an avalanche of goals for the Bodorgan boys before everything went a little pear-shaped. Craig Williams took advantage of some poor defending jinked past three players and poked the ball past Thomas in Glantraeth to pull a goal back on 17 minutes. On 23 Min's Kevin Roberts hit a long free kick over the crossbar, and Gareth Davies had a good effort saved by Rowland. Then a long through ball from Shaun Williams saw Steve Thomas fumble as he bent down to gather, first to respond was Craig Williams who got his second of the game tapping into an empty net. On 36 minutes Gresford took the lead as following a free kick taken by Phil Jones who's hit a free kick round that Thomas in Glantraeth goal did well to half smother, however the ball just slipped away as he tried to regather and quickest to respond and get a third goal for a hat-trick was Craig Williams. In the second half Nigel Barry forced Rowland into yet another good save. Craig Roberts also saw a header go agonisingly over the bar, and Darren Gowans made the keeper earn his crust. Gareth Davies saw a shot blocked on the line from Mike Gronnow and in the dying minutes Rob Williams on as substitute flicked a header towards the top corner for the keeper who was inspirational on the day to tip over the bar.
