Cymru Alliance League
Glantraeth 1 Llangefni Town 1

The first opportunity of this eagerly awaited derby fixture fell to Llangefni Town's Gareth Griffiths who when clean through on goal in a one on one situation hit a shot that Glantraeth keeper Steve Thomas save with his outstretched leg. Mark Thomas then forced keeper Phil Owen into a fine save as he hit a 30yd drive that forced the keeper to tip over the bar. With both keepers on form Adrian Jones then saw Thomas pull another good save. On 36min's a good move with interplay between Mike Parry and Rob Williams saw Kevin Roberts hit a fierce volley that went just wide of the upright.Glantraeth also had an appeal for a penalty turned down by official even though it looked as though keeper Phil Owen had handled outside the goal area. With half-time fast approaching the Glantraeth Chairman/Physio Gari Evans then caused some amusement for those behind the dugout as rushing to get on the field to treat an injured player he managed to slip down the slope and onto his backside to the delight of the assembled crowd.Half-time score was 0 - 0.
At the start of the second period Gareth Griffiths hit a shot wide of the post. Glantraeth then had a second appeal for what looked a good penalty turned down even though the official spoke to the lines-woman on the far side of the field after Craig Roberts was pulled down. Craig Roberts then had a good free kick tipped over the bar by Owen in the Llangefni goal, from the resulting corner there was a scramble and what looked like handball on the line (once again missed by the official) before Warren Gibbs stabbed the ball in from close range, to put the home side 1 - 0 up. Glantraeth playing some good football at this stage looked to be in full control and on for a win as Craig Roberts put in an excellent cross that namesake Kevin hit with such power it was all the keeper could do to tip the ball over the crossbar. Deep into injury time Glantraeth were dealt a blow as sub Steven P. Williams hit a shot on the angle from just outside the area that beat keeper Thomas and crept in at the far post to make the final score in this derby fixture 1 - 1.
