Despite two late goals for Lex this was a comfortable win for Glan who played some lovely football on a very heavy pitch once they had taken the lead in the 40th minute. The three points took the Anglesey side to joint top of the table, behind Bala Town on goal difference.
During the first period Lex always looked dangerous on the break although Glantraeth were making the more clear cut chances, Nigel Barry firing just wide after 3 minutes then Richard Owen went even closer seven minutes later with a shot that beat keeper Jamie Durkin but trickled just the wrong side of a post.
The first goal was well worked as Richard Owen’s cross was headed on by Rob Williams leaving the unmarked Paul Rowlands to volley home. With two minutes of the half remaining Craig Roberts made it two after Richard Owen’s effort had been blocked.
Within 12 minutes of the restart Glan went three ahead as Craig Roberts put Richard Owen clear and then finished off the move after Owen’s effort on goal had been half cleared.
Two minutes later Kevin Roberts was first to a right wing cross and finished perfectly with a looping header over Durkin and the scoring was completed on 74 minutes when a cross from Emyr Rowlands caused all kinds of problems and found its way into the net with Glan boss Paul Whelan declaring it an own goal.
Playing for pride Lex finished strongly with Joe Garner hitting the post on 81 minutes and with a minute of normal time to go Mark Williams did pull a goal back and there was further irritation for the visitors in the third minute of added time as Williams was again the scorer, this time from the penalty spot following a hand ball.
Glantraeth: Dave Ball, Emyr Rowlands, Darren Jones, Gareth Owen, Craig Roberts, Nigel Barry, Rob Williams, Richard F Owen, Richard Owen (Simon Kay 70), Kevin Roberts (Martin Bohana 70), Paul Rowlands (Osian Pritchard 70).
