It was a case of deja vu down at the Bodorgan base of Glantraeth football club as the team transpired to lose their second successive home game in a month. Our last game saw us lose by the odd goal to end 2006 against Holyhead Hotspur. This time it was a much heavier defeat to high scoring Llandudno Town. Glantraeth were in it up till half time, then allowed the visitors to completely dominate the second period.
The first chance of the game fell to Craig Roberts who hit a shot which was well blocked, the rebound fell to Nigel Barry and he forced a tremendous save from keeper Kevin Coleville. Against the run of play Llandudno took the lead as veteran Grant Montgomery turned on the edge of the box and hit a shot which just escaped the outstretched hand of Dave Ball into the corner of the net. Glantraeth responded well and a free kick taken by Nigel Barry was only half cleared, lurking on the edge of the box was Richard. F. Owen who struck a volley past Coleville. Rob Williams almost increased the lead curling a shot just wide of the upright. Then Richard Owen forced Coleville into a good save from a Nigel Barry free kick. Owen then tried a solo effort jinking past two defenders but hitting a weak shot. Joe Morgan for Tudno then had a header go inches wide of the post. On 37 minutes the visitors once again took the lead as Joe Morgan headed a cross from the left which skidded past Ball Glantraeth custodian and was in the back of the net in a flash before the keeper fully reacted.
The second half was well dominated by the visitors. On 47 minutes a great ball through from Kevin Roberts found Richard he clipped a shot just past the upright. Montgomery then made it 3-1 racing down the right before cutting in and hitting a shot that came off the boot of Dave Ball and agonisingly trickled into the empty net. A couple of minutes later Joe Morgan broke through and blazed over the crossbar, before Craig Roberts had a half chance from a Kevin Roberts free kick. Glantraeth's luck was summed up as Richard Owen hit a thunderous shot just outside the six yard box and Coleville pulled of a brilliant save spreading himself well to deny the Glantraeth striker. At the other end Ball was called upon to save from substitute Ben Dews. In the dying moments of the game Kevin Roberts upended one of the Tudno forwards in the area which led to a penalty, taken by Sean Eardly who completed Glantraeth's miserable afternoon by sending the keeper the wrong way to make the scoreline 4-1 to the visitors.
